Nicknamed the Pearl of the Orient, Penang – a world-renowned exotic holiday destination – was known, as Pulau Pinang or the “Isle of the Betel Nut”. Listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2008, this paradise is not short of cultural sights and natural scenery.
Penang is famous for its soft sandy beaches and is fondly regarded as the food capital of Malaysia. Some of the most interesting sites of Penang include the sandy beaches of Tanjung Bungah, the landscape from the top of Penang Hill and the many Temples. The quaint streets and alley of Georgetown and the Tropical Spice Garden – the only spice garden in South East Asia – as well as Penang’s many markets, pasar malam , KOMTAR and modern shopping malls also merit a visit.

Day 1: Arrive Penang
Arrive in Penang International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in the city center. Check in and the rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Penang. 2
Day 2: Penang Hill and Temple Tour
After breakfast, meet your driver for your tour around Penang.
Visit the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia, the KEK LOK SI TEMPLE, also known as the “Temple of Supreme Bliss”. Enjoy a breathtaking sight of the GIGANTIC GODDESS OF MERCY BRONZE STATUE overlooking the entire temple precinct and its vicinity, then take a stroll up the seven-storey Pagoda which houses over 10,000 Buddha statues.
From there, head to the highest peak of Penang, the must-visit PENANG HILL, where the oldest British hill station in the region was established. Enjoy a ride on the FUNICULAR TRAIN up the hill, where you’ll be amazed by the magnificent PANORAMIC VIEW of George Town and the Mainland. While you’re at it, try spotting the two Penang Bridges! Stock up on your favorite local goodies at the Coffee Tree before heading back. 3
